Every organisation big or small should give a considerable thought to a rewards and recognition program. Every HR professional out there out to think, propose and evangelize about it across the board. Ignoring this key element of people is anathema! And it surely beats the purpose of having a human resources department or even being an HR professional!
Yeah, I get it. HROs need to be on the forefront of business strategy and growth but the people putting in hours of their lives don’t give a hoot about your priority. Why should they? Do you?
An R&R program can be as simple as handing out gift cards with a handwritten note to complex programs with metrics attached to it. Your call as to how complex would you like to make your life because your people won’t care all they want is to be appreciated for who they are and what they bring to the organization.
Simple is better, of course.
I know it’s a great idea. And I know you know that too. But our admiration of ideas wouldn’t do a flip unless we do something about it.
