If you’ve been following my blog, you know I try my best to stay away from flaky motivational speeches and speakers. For some weird reason, my mind went back to a speech I heard years ago when someone said, “If you’re passionate enough. You can’t help but win.”
I didn’t think much of it last night as I was too tired. Even the thought of jotting the idea down wasn’t appealing. So, I simply shrugged and slept off. And I woke up this morning thinking about the damn thing! I guess my subconscious didn’t really shrug it off. It clearly was mulling it over while I was sleeping.
So, here I am, writing about it here because I’m thinking about this differently.
I don’t think it’s just about passion. One doesn’t need it to excel in anything. Any third-rate idiot can be passionate. About anything. And all we’ll have is a passionate idiot!
Winning is different.
Winners are the ones who bleed when they practice, hoping that game day will be less bloody.
Winners are the ones who sweat over the little details that they know will take them further.
Winners are the ones who seek others out because they know doing it all alone will be impossible.
Winners are the ones who shed tears when they aren’t able to perform to their potential because they care a little too much.
It’s the blend of blood, sweat and tears that makes winners who they are. Passion isn’t enough. It never is.
